Wedding Favors History

Throughout history wedding favors have become an important part of marriage celebrations around the world. The tradition of wedding favors dates back several centuries, or perhaps thousands of years. It is said that since the 16th century brides and grooms have presented wedding favors upon the wedding guests. Undoubtedly, favors have been an important part of wedding ceremonies around the world, symbolizing the appreciation of the newly united couple to their wedding guests for sharing with them such a significant occasion in their lives.

Wedding favors around the world are as diverse as the cultures surrounding them. The type of wedding favors that have been used in weddings of the past depended a great deal on the culture of the families of the bride and groom. Different cultures have various traditional wedding favors that they use. Without a doubt, there are some similarities among many of the traditions. For instance, it is quite common for many cultures to provide each guest with a wedding favor that contains five candies. Each piece represents one of the five common wedding wishes: health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity.

Wedding favors are considered among the most important accessories of marriage celebrations. Couples use unique wedding favors to thank their wedding guests. Many favors are practical gifts such as silver plated bottle opener or favor bags. Picture frames, candles and candleholders are among some of the most popular wedding favors. Both personalized chocolate and foil wrapped chocolates are very popular wedding favors. Brides seek to make a statement with their favors. Personalized wedding favors provide an especially effective way to display a brief message to the reception guests.

During the centuries, the tradition of wedding favors has evolved into the sophisticated and themed favors that most couples enjoy today. Some of the most popular wedding theme examples are Wine theme, Heart theme, Flower theme, Elegant theme, Seasonal theme, Cherubs theme, Valentine's Day theme and more.

Hush words is a fun bridal shower game that is competitive and keeps everyone on their toes. For this game each guest will receive the same token (can be anything). They will be told they cannot say 2 words. These two words you can pick but make sure they are tough such as the grooms name or wedding. If a person hears another person saying it, they get their token. See who can collect the most tokens.
This is definitely one that will go down in the history of Guinness Book of World Records... Liu Yung-yang (103 years old) and his loving wife Yang Wan (102 years old) celebrated 85 years of wedded bliss! They were married in April of 1917 in Taiwan and have kept the fires burning since. Kudos!
